Walnut cake


The walnut cake recipe is a light dessert recipe, that is easy to prepare. In my family we made this cake for the Sunday dinner. It was always a favorite with the kids.

 

Walnut cake - A Light Dessert Recipe

Walmut and Egg Whites Cake Preparation time: 1 hour ( preparation :10 minutes; baking : 45-50 minutes)

Makes: 12 servings (about two small slices)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup bread flour
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 cup sugar

Preparation:  

  1. Beat the egg whites  with the mixer until they become a stiff foam.
  2. Add sugar about 1-2 tablespoons at a time and beat again. Repeat the procedure until all the sugar is integrated into the foam.
  3. Slowly add flour and mix with a spoon (again 1-2 tablespoons at a time).
  4. Add the chopped walnuts and mix slowly with the spoon.
  5. Grease a baking tray with butter and sprinkle with flour.
  6. Pour the dough into the baking tray.
  7. Preheat the oven and bake for 45-50 minutes at 350 F.
  8. Retrieve the baking tray and flip the cake on a serving plate.
  9. Decorate with confectioners sugar.
