Cauliflower au gratin - A French Easy Dinner recipe


Cauliflower au gratin is a quick and easy dinner recipe which I used to love as a kid. I still do. With a very easy preparation, it is a good choice for a busy mom preparing dinner.  The recipe has a french origin, but is popular across various other countries in Europe.

 

Cauliflower au gratin recipe

Cooking time: 40-45 minutes ( preparation: 10 minutes; cooking: 20 minutes; baking: 10 minutes)

    Makes: 6 servings

Ingredients:

  • 1 cauliflower (large)
  • 1 cup bread crumbs 
  • 3-4 oz butter 
  • 1 cup sour cream 
  • 1 cup milk 
  • grated Parmesan cheese

Preparation:

  1. Wash and cut the little cauliflower florets.
  2. Boil at medium heat the florets in salted water for about 20 minutes.
  3. Pick the florets with a skimming or strainer spoon and drain them.
  4. Grease a glass heat resistant tray with butter and sprinkle with bread crumbs.
  5. Arrange the florets cauliflower in layers into the tray.
  6. Mix the sour cream with milk and pour above the layers.
  7. Add butter on top and season with salt. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and bread crumbs.
  8. Preheat the oven at medium heat and broil for about 10-15 minutes ( until the florets become golden-brown).
  9. Serve with grated Parmesan cheese and sour cream on top.
