Preparation time: 2 hours

Makes: 25-30 servings

  • 3 pounds apple (or more)
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 3-4 tablespoons sugar
  • 7 oz butter
  • 7 oz sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 18 ounces bread flour
  • 2 tablespoons wine
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 pack baking powder (or 3 teaspoons)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  1. Peel and grate the apples. Add cinnamon and 3-4 tablespoons sugar. Simmer on medium heat for 4-5 minutes. Let it cool.
  2. Mix flour with milk and wine.
  3. Beat the butter with sugar and eggs. Add the other ingredients.
  4. Mix the two components and knead the dough. Divide it into two parts.
  5. Using a rolling pin, spread the dough into two sheets (use a greased surface so the sheets will not stick on the surface).
  6. Grease a non-stick tray with butter and sprinkle with flour. Put a dough sheet on the bottom.
  7. Spread the apple composition on top of the bottom sheet.
  8. Cover with the second sheet and tuck the endings.
  9. Spread one beaten egg on the surface of the pie and sprinkle with sugar (use regular sugar, not powdered sugar).
  10. Preheat the oven and bake the pie at 375 F for 45 minutes (until the surface becomes golden-brown).
  11. Let it cool and then cut it into squares.
  12. Enjoy!
